No, I didn't get eaten by a camel

August 27, 2007
As I expected, internet access is not easy to find in BFE where the literacy rate is only about 50%, and where people buy fly-covered produce off of carts being pulled through the "streets" (I use that term loosely) by donkeys. However, I did find this cute little "net cafe" housed in a tiny garage, consisting of one computer and a plastic chair. One hour of internet use only costs the equivalent of $0.20, but getting here isn't that easy, power outages in the area are frequent and unpredictable, and there are often guys with entirely too much time on their hands loitering outside waiting for an opportunity to make lewd remarks at passing females. So, as cozy as this little set up is, I won't be spending much time here. Of course I have stories (and pictures!), so I'll keep looking for other ways to access the internet.

Thanks so much for the well wishes and comments on my last post, and sorry for the random mysteriousness. I'll get around to demystifying things a little eventually. Right now I need to make sure I look good for the bachelors lined up waiting for me outside.

Be safe and update when you can. Hopefully if you have any EDS problems, the health care in Egypt will be able to deal with it.
